What is Ofsted?

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. School inspections are required by law.

What are the 5 main areas of focus?

  • overall effectiveness.
  • quality of education.
  • behaviour and attitudes.
  • personal development.
  • leadership and management.

EYFS is also a focus. The areas above include Safeguarding, provision for pupils with Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND) and the effective use of grants such as Pupil Premium and Sports Funding.

At Kinnerley we want to ensure that every child reaches their potential. We constantly monitor our performance via various means –

Pupil progress and attainment data – internal and external

External moderation of pupil work

Pupil surveys

Parent/carer surveys

Staff surveys

External school improvement partner visits

Federation monitoring visits

External audits in specific areas eg safeguarding, SEN, data compliance, curriculum subject areas.

Governor visits and reporting

Keeping up to date with current educational research-based evidence
